Ahmed Rufai Isah
Ahmed Rufai Isah supports projects across Reboot’s Media and Governance programs in Nigeria. He supports programmatic research, design, and documentation processes, from start to finish, across various Reboot projects, collaborating with diverse subject matter experts and internal/external teams. He also serves as the Abuja office’s cross-project communicator and team motivator, helping staff meet goals, guiding and coaching local researchers in Nigeria, and facilitating smooth knowledge transfer for clients and team members.
Rufai has honed his media and digital communications expertise working in both the private and public sectors. At the ICT consulting firm InfoStrategy Technology, Rufai managed online news distribution for Africa Independent Television (AIT), increasing the organization’s viewership while negotiating challenges related to trust and political involvement.
Supporting government in Kano State, Nigeria, he implemented digital communication strategies and leveraged social media platforms for better citizen engagement at the office of the Special Adviser, Media to the Kano State Government. In neighboring Kaduna State, he conducted communications trainings for Kudan Local Government Area staff that focused on helping the local administration incorporate citizen feedback into the design of their policies.
Rufai brings his passion for encouraging young people to get involved with government to his social media advocacy efforts, including promoting #OpenNASS, a youth-focused campaign to push for financial transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s National Assembly.
Rufai was born and raised in the ancient cities of Kano and Abuja, and speaks Hausa, Yoruba, and Igala. He is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano with a degree in Mass Communication. In his spare time, he volunteers as a monitoring and evaluation officer for Water for Sustainable Living Initiative, an NGO started by friends to address water challenges in rural communities in Nigeria.
